I have been watching the sky since I was a kid. I started a bulletin board system in 1982. Not long after that, the local astronomy club asked if they could post their stuff on Howard’s Notebook. Then later they started their own BBS.
Back in the old days, you had to look up information in a magazine and later on a bulletin board system.
Then later the Palm devices came along. That was great. I was one of the first people to use the Palm devices. So I had one in my pocket.
I worked a lot of night shifts so I was up all night. I could look up and see the moon and planets in the sky.
Now with computers, you can see the moon, planets, stars and other objects on your computer. There are great apps for cell phones now. You see something in the sky and just point your cell phone and it shows you what the object is.
I have an Android cell phone and I use Star Chart. I also have Heaven-Above on my cell phone.
This photo was taken this morning Tuesday, October 17, 2017. I was walking over to get the mail. Photo was taken with my Panasonic LX7. The moon above and I did not check my cell phone for the planet below. I am going to guess Venus or Jupiter.
The photo above is after I zoomed in a little bit with the Panasonic LX7.
