I am 77 years of age. Wanting a return to the “good old days”, I suspect, is code for wanting a time when America was white and colored knew their place.
There was a time when Halloween was a great holiday. I suspect that it was as great for colored but I do not know for sure. I did grow up in black and white neighborhoods. I do not remember any differences to problems.
I am not sure when Halloween went to hell. I think when news reports of drugs and razor blades and stuff like that in the candy was reported. If it did happen it was rare and I am not even sure there was a case of it happening.
Then hospitals that charge hundreds of dollars to do an x-ray on a person started to scan candy for free. People would come in with their candy to have it scanned.
I worked at hospitals when that took place. It was stupid and never did any hospital ever find anything. I think that was the end of the real fun Halloween for kids. Now kids do not go door to door.
I am not sure when the born-again Christians, you know the same people that elected Donald Trump, decided to make war on Halloween. I learned not to ask someone what their kids were doing for Halloween.
I guess when I was a kid I missed out on all the pagans and witches having sex and doing “ritualistic cannibalism” on children.
Well, as soon as Halloween is over I can start my war on Christmas.

Just gleamed off AMSAT BBS/Blog;
435.180 MHz was the planned frequency. Due to unexpected differences
in temperature, the actual frequency is estimated to be around 435.172
MHz. If you’re using an FM only radio, you should use 435.170 MHz as
your center uplink frequency. Paul, N8HM

FOX1B is expected to fly on November 10, 2017 from Vandenburg AFB.
HAMdom might just get a nice Christmas present this year – with the bird fully open for use.
All FOX’s are expected to live in orbit +10yrs.
FM U/v repeater with an uplink on 435.250 MHz (67.0Hz PL) and a downlink on 145.960 MHz.
AO-## designation will occur when FOX1B is securely in orbit.
I have been watching the sky since I was a kid. I started a bulletin board system in 1982. Not long after that, the local astronomy club asked if they could post their stuff on Howard’s Notebook. Then later they started their own BBS.
Back in the old days, you had to look up information in a magazine and later on a bulletin board system.
Then later the Palm devices came along. That was great. I was one of the first people to use the Palm devices. So I had one in my pocket.
I worked a lot of night shifts so I was up all night. I could look up and see the moon and planets in the sky.
Now with computers, you can see the moon, planets, stars and other objects on your computer. There are great apps for cell phones now. You see something in the sky and just point your cell phone and it shows you what the object is.
I have an Android cell phone and I use Star Chart. I also have Heaven-Above on my cell phone.
This photo was taken this morning Tuesday, October 17, 2017. I was walking over to get the mail. Photo was taken with my Panasonic LX7. The moon above and I did not check my cell phone for the planet below. I am going to guess Venus or Jupiter.
The photo above is after I zoomed in a little bit with the Panasonic LX7.
The following is a reprint of a blog post I made in July of 2010. It was posted on my TypePad blog. Some of the links below may not work. They are seven years old.
I posted in ShowMeBlog back sometime ago about nude swimming at the YMCA. That blog post gets a lot of traffic each day. It has had a lot of comments. Many of the people comment that it never took place.
It was normal and standard for boys swimming at the YMCA to swim nude. It was also normal at many schools all across the United States.
Many people today just can not believe that such a thing took place.
It just shows how crazy things have come now in the United States with sex, nudity, sin and religion.
I just notice that Wikipedia now has an article “Nude swimming.”
If you want see the post from ShowMeBlog : Swimming Nude in America and that was from April 23 of 2008.
The following from the Wikipedia article:
“…Before the YMCA began to admit females in the early 1960s, swimming trunks were not even allowed in the pools, and high school swimming classes for boys sometimes had similar policies, citing the impracticality of providing and maintaining sanitary swimming gear and clogging swimming pools’ filtration systems with lint fibers from the swimsuits. These practices were common because of the perception that there was nothing wrong or sexual about seeing members of the same gender in the nude, especially in these indoor contexts among equals in ‘birthday suit uniform’.
In some English schools, Manchester Grammar School for example, nude swimming was compulsory until the 1970s. This was also the case for some U.S. junior high schools. A 2006 Roper poll showed that 25% of all American adults had been skinny dipping at least once, and that 74% believed nude swimming should be tolerated at accepted locations.…”
I never did nude swimming when I was young. Hell, I do not know how to swim. Plus I am not sure I was ever at a YMCA. I had a cousin that was a year younger and he did swim nude at the YMCA near his home. I knew it at the time but they were poor and until a few years ago I was thinking that the YMCA just did it there because poor kids could not afford swimming suits. Then a few years ago I read on the web about nude swimming back in the “old days.” Smile
That would be an interesting poll for a TV station. Go out on the street and ask people if kids every did nude swimming at the YMCA and at schools years ago in the United States. I would be interested in the results.
I had some the other day say that I had not been logging as long as I say.
The other day I just happen to get a link to an old post on TypePad. I used TypePad as my blog hosting site from 2003 until 2012.
I used TypePad for a lot of years but it was not my first blogging site. Well, the first blogging site was my bulletin board system in 1982!
God, I been doing this a long long time. No wonder I am so tired.
